Hi.

Welcome to my site. Sometimes I blog about my sewing.

BFF Bag Tutorial: Card Slots Panel

BFF Bag Tutorial: Card Slots Panel

Pockets, pockets, pockets. It’s always been about the pockets. They make or break any make.

I’m excited to be sharing two new pockets options for you customizing your BFF Bag in this post!

First up, a new interior panel, featuring three card slots. This card slot panel can be used instead of either one (or both!) of the two pocket panels included in the BFF Bag Pattern.

The tutorial is a six-page download and it’s FREE, friends!

Can we take a quick moment to appreciate the stitches my new machine, a Juki TL-2010, makes!? HEART EYES.

Since this BFF has leather components, you might notice I moved the D-ring connectors so they wouldn't be in the binding with the leather as well. (See this post for those changes.)

Now, how about another pocket?! When I’m traveling and scrambling my way through airport security, I like to be able to tuck my ID away effortlessly. In that instance, a single card pocket on the back of my BFF is incredibly handy. I’ve shared this quick upgrade before.

I like to make these pockets with a scrap of leather cut to 2.5” H by 4” W. A rounded notch can be added to help access the card too. Just edgestitch the pocket to the back exterior before basting its corresponding interior panel and proceeding with construction.

Ok, so! I think this brings the count on pocket styles for the BFF up to SIX. Three in the PDF pattern, one in this prior blog post, and two just now. Have we covered all the variations you can dream up?!

Special thanks goes to 110creations for illustrating the card slot add-on. Thanks so much, Beth!
