Tauko Magazine: Parabolic
Admittedly, I was not at all familiar with TAUKO Magazine until they reached out to me about sewing for their 6th(!) issue. (Is TAUKO pronounced like taco? I’d like to think so.)
And the magazine is gorgeous. Clearly, I've been living under a rock! (We can blame The Algorithm.)
I chose to preview the Parabolic Shirt designed by Alex Schaufele.
Parabolic is a twist on the timeless button up, featuring a dramatically curved hem (as shown in the line drawing) and equally curvaceous back yoke and pleat.
Absolutely follow the construction advice in the assembly instructions. Parabolic's deeply curved yoke is the place to take your time pinning and sewing, starting at the center and working to the edges for both sides. (This is coming from a never-pinner.)
I made a size 2 in Atelier Brunette viscose twill. (Full sizing information for TAUKO magazine.)
The sleeves are simple and intended to be permanently cuffed, though I chose to add narrow elastic in a casing for a gathered hem finish.
The pattern also includes an alternate hem cutting line that’s shorter and straight in the front.
Congratulations on your latest release, TAUKO Magazine! Thank you for the preview pattern.
