It had felt like an eternity since I'd been excited for a pattern test. And it was the most amazing coincidence of coincidences. I received Jen's email inviting me to test while on layover in a Chicago airport. I had spent over 6 weeks between February and April out of state (read: no sewing for me). I was headed home to Ohio AND I was literally the closest I could be to Jen, without sitting down together for cocktails.

So Willo! She’s based on a button front notch collar/camp shirt with waist ties that finishes as a blouse, romper, or jumpsuit.

I had fallen in love at first sight upon seeing Jen’s army green jumpsuit (in Spain, RED GERANIUMS IN THE BACKGROUND!)-

My romper is a size S, graded to M at the hips.

I used a mid-weight black textured woven material from LA Finch Fabrics for my sample. It happens to have a smidge of stretch.

The trickiest part of this pattern is the bottom of the button placket/collar facing. Experience in having sewn these kinds of plackets will be helpful. (A full video sew along for Willo is anticipated!)

I used snaps in lieu of buttons because they make it infinitely quicker to escape one’s clothing when necessary.

Of course, she's got pockets. Big, beautiful inseam pockets with their tops secured in the waist seam (as they ought to be).

Waist shaping via the front ties AND a sweet little enclosed elastic band in the back. Comfortable AND stylish! Win, win.

My favorite feature to sew was the sleeve cuff. Such a great finish without much effort. I hadn’t seen this specific cuff construction before.

I can certainly picture more versions of Willo in my future. A full jumpsuit for starters! I also have a vision of elongated ties that can wrap around to the back.
